Sapporo - Odori Park

First place anybody would recommend to visit in Sapporo is Odori Park.
It is at center of the city and easily accessible from most parts of the city by train or bus. It is just 5 minutes walk from Odori station.
It can be visited throught the year. Every season gives a different look to Odori park.

Summer & Autumn:

You can visit park in the afternon or evening. In this season this park is visited by people generally to relax and spend some nice time with family, friends or leasuire time alone. You can see guys enjoying skates, playing music, children feeding pigeons and many more.
In September, there is a summer festival, beer festival. One can enjoy music shows from different bands, various kind of beers, wines and lot more.

Winter:

Best time to visit this place. It starts snowing in Sapporo generally in November and thus starts the preparation for winter festivals.
Entire park is illuminated with lights in November and visitors can enjoy it till around end of december. Such illumination can be seen at many other places in sapporo. Odori park illumination is one of the best. There is sea wave created using blue lights. At night you would feel as if standing on a beach and watching sea. Off course a small one.
Even few other trees and few other structures are decorated and illuminated with lights.
Generally in February Sapporo snow festival starts. Many big/ small size sculptures are built by locals. Its preparation is started in December and continues till snow festival starts. Such snow sculptures are displayed with beautiful lights on them during the festival. Around 200000 visitors come for this festival including foreign tourists. There are other attractions like a skating rink, skates show by popular teams from all over Japan. Many stalls selling crafts and multinational cuisines. You can enjoy delicious food while on the walk during the festival.
As its very very cold during the festival, you should be visiting with all your warm wears. Thermals, jerkin, winter cap, muffler, hand gloves, warm socks and snow shoes are must to spend day at such chilled festival.

Spring:

You would feel that park is bit open as all the sculptures, stalls, decoration is removed. But then some beautiful flowers are planted there and it becomes very colorful garden with so many different types of flowers. It is very nice to take colorful pictures especially on sunny days.
